Accompany - Family Residence Permit
First degree relatives of foreign nationals that come to our country for any reason and get a residence permit may also get a residence permit for accompanying purposes.
The foreign national that has the residence permit will have a status of supporter in this case. Accordingly, foreign spouse of the supporter, minor foreign child of the supporter or his/her spouse, and the major foreign child the supporter or his/her is obliged to look after although the child in question has turned 18 may also apply for a family residence permit.
Residence permit for students does not give any right to the student's parents and other relatives in getting a residence permit. Such persons may however apply for a residence permit provided always they meet the relevant criteria.

As children below 18 years of age will not have an income, they are not considered as supporter. For this reason, foreign mother or father of a Turkish citizen child may not accompany the child, or may not get a family residence permit. Such foreign nationals may get a "short term residence permit" though.
